Finding a recovery program for Methadone addiction
There are different types of recovery programs for those with a methadone addiction. It is important to find the right program. Not every program is right for every person. When you find the right program, you will have a better success rate of not relapsing, which is what family members want, and hopefully the person with the dependency problem.
There are inpatient and outpatient programs. Knowing which one is right for the person with the problem is important. They cannot get the right help if they are in the wrong program. Knowing the differences between inpatient and outpatient is important. Knowing the pros and cons of each will help you find the right program for the person in need of help.
There are inpatient programs to help those with a methadone dependency. This is a great way to still be able to visit the person, yet getting them out of the environment that could potentially hurt them more or kill them. With inpatient programs they have people watching them 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This program has all kinds of meetings, support groups, etc to help the person with the dependency out.
Then there is an outpatient program to help out. This program the person does not live at the facility. They come for the activities assigned them each day or the days they are required. They have a support group, but they are not with that support group 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you do not need to get them away from the group causing the problem, this might be a good way to go.
Knowing how long someone has been using Methadone and how much they have been taking will probably affect which type of program they go to. Sometimes getting out of the situation can make a huge impact and can really help the person clean up. While others may need the help and support, but not need it 24 hours day surveillance. Finding the right inpatient or outpatient program is important. There are many ways to look for help. There are doctors, psychologist, and other medical professionals who can give their suggestions and even refer someone if that is needed. The right help will help you get the person into the right program, which is of up most importance.
When methadone has been used, finding the right programs is important. When you find a program that will really help them out, you will do anything to get them there and as soon as possible.
Methadone Withdrawal: Methadone Facts
methadone withdrawal - Important information about methadone recovery and the use of methadone in drug addiction recovery.
Why does methadone withdrawal cause intense bone and muscle pain?
Does anyone know a lot about methadone withdrawal?
I need to know how long it will be before regular pain meds will work as they are supposed to, Lortab, Percocet, Etc. . I'm having a major surgery done and have to be off the methadone to have the surgery. I stopped taking 120mg's on the 29th of april, I did not take any for five days. By sunday I felt so horrible someone brought me some 5mg methdone pills. So I took 50 60mg a day until today Friday , I'm not going to take anymore I just need to know the longest time someone's opiate receptors were blocked after stopping the methadone. Will my tolerance for pain meds. be very high is my first question? My second question is I read that ultram blocked methadone's affects, does that mean I can feel my pain meds? I know that it puts you into withdrawal, will that move the methadone out faster? I have to have rods and plates put into my wrist and arm, and don't want to suffer in pain. My doctor has already discrinated against me, I'm scared i will be in severe pain, he wont car
Taking psuedoephedrine to help with methadone withdrawal?
I have a theory and was wondering if it would work. Methadone withdrawal is mainly caused from the body producing too much norepinephrine because opiate cause your body to not make as much and it has to kick up the production when you get addicted to opiates, which is why withdrawals happens. If someone were to take pseudoephedrine for a long while before stopping methadone cold turkey and then stop taking the pseudoephedrine too, would this help the body to not produce so much norepinephrine? Since sudafed norepinephrine causes an increase in norepinephrine, it would seem that one would go through a withdrawal from it constiting of too little norepinephrine and maybe the two would counteract each other, or at least make the methadone withdrawals a little easier as they are impossible for me at this time. What do you guys and girls think?Hey Tim L....I know for a fact that pseudoephedrine works by stimulating release of norepinephrine from the neuro endocrine system. Also, a significant part of methadone withdrawal is cause from the body producing too much norepinephrine, which is why clonidine is sometimes prescribed to help withdrawals. Read up on your medical info or ask a doctor before assuming you are right. I've done a lot of research, believe me

What can I do to make methadone withdrawals easier?
I have been on methadone for 6 months, gradually decreasing my dose to get off this stuff.. I was on 5mg about 3 4 days ago, and had to stop because im going on a trip sunday. Im not sick to my stomach but my body feels warm but I am constantly freezing. The restless legs has turned into a restless entire body. Im constantly fatigued and my legs burn just walking up the stairs. Hot showers help a little but is there anything else I can do? Will this get better or worse as the days go on? If it gets any worse, how can I make traveling on a bus tolerable?
Is methadone withdrawal deadly?
What alternatives are there for methadone withdrawal and how long do the last?
I have been on about 30MG of methadone prescribed for close to 6 years now. I broke my back while in the military and in an effort to avoid surgery I see a pain management doctor. I have compressed nerves and a good amount of nerve pain associated with the condition spondylolithesis grade 3 and the methadone has been a life saver because I can live a close to normal life and still be semi physically active. Without any pain meds I would have to resort to a major spine fusion that would begin the start of many times over being cut on. I just recently lost almost a whole bottle of methadone while out of town at a hotel and have not been able to recover it. My doctor's office, although they do believe me because I have been as responsible as I can be while on this stuff , they told me that they cannot replace or offer an alternative for lost or stolen meds under any circumstances. So, I am left with the prospect of withdrawing from methadone " cold turkey" and I am absolutely feeling like my world is ending. I am on day 3.5 of going without and it only keeps getting worse. I just about cussed out my doctor and accused him of being irresponsible knowing that I would be stopping cold turkey after being on this stuff for 6 years, not too mention the fact that the pain meds keep me being able to function normally and stay on my feet for long periods of time. I understand policies but I have been a responsible patient with a track record of using any extras prior to filling new scripts I cannot sleep even a little and have not slept longer than 20 minutes in the past 3.5 days and I cannot function normally at all. My only current options are to deal and have my prescription filled at the normal interval in 24 days. What options do I have? Can I go to a methadone clinic and explain this to them or explain my dependence and get these withdrawls to go away and to resume normal physical activity?
Does tramadol hcl help with methadone withdrawals? is it possible since there are opiats in tramadol?
Can I take Clonodine and Advil together?? Clonodine is for methadone withdrawal; for rapid heart beat.?
My dr prescribed me Clonodine for the rapid heart beat associated with methadone withdrawal. I would like to take a larger dose of advil for some aches and pains, like 600 800mg but I'm unsure if this okay w the Clonodine. The Rx paperwork for Clonodine said to double my dose of Clonodine if I plan on taking Advil or any NSAID's. But I'm wondering if this is correct and if so, is doubling my dose accurate? Right now my regular dose is 1 2 tablet 0.1 mg in the morning and a full tablet 0.1 mg at night. I also take Requip for RLS and Wellbutrin for depression
Is there a good home remedy for methadone withdrawals?
my friend is not doing well, he is trying his best to kick methadone, is there any home remedys for his illness?
I need a QUICK answer. Does Marijuana help Methadone withdrawal symptoms?
My sister is addicted to meth, but goes to the clinic. She missed it today and yesterday and wants me to give her money for meth and she said she's going to rehab soon. I haven't answered her back, but I refuse to give her any money for more meth. I'd give her weed though if that could help her. She said she is throwing up and that she feels really bad. I don't mess with any other drugs so I'm not sure if a gram of weed could help her until she gets to the clinic tomorrow morning.Nothing wrong with weed. There is a lot wrong with methadone. So if trading meth for weed helps her then that would be the best option. I'm not getting into the right and wrong of marijuana, but it's better than meth any day.And she wants $60 and there's no way I would give her that much. I refuse to give her any money to buy meth.
Anyone else pregnant on methadone? withdrawal symptoms?
ok, first off, i am taking methadone for herion addiction, have been trying to get off of it and keep running into problems financial and medical, have been on birth control and got pregnant. i had my baby and all is good. had some problems 1st pregnancy with my dose not holding due to pregnancy. well started the nuva ring and at my 9 month post pardum check up, my dr said i was pregnant again. i am upset because i was planning on getting off methadone. well i am 17 weeks and i keep having to up my dose, though i don't want to, i have a child and home to take care of, so i can't get that " sick" and if i am feeling these symptoms, i know it is bad for the baby. i wanna know if anyone anyone you know, is having similar problems? what to do? keep going up and hope it doesn't get to high? my plan is to stay at lowest possible dose to be" normal, healthy" and detox after the baby detox now isn't an option for me, maybe a hospital detox but i doubt they'll do it polite answers please
