Finding a recovery program for Methadone addiction
There are different types of recovery programs for those with a methadone addiction. It is important to find the right program. Not every program is right for every person. When you find the right program, you will have a better success rate of not relapsing, which is what family members want, and hopefully the person with the dependency problem.
There are inpatient and outpatient programs. Knowing which one is right for the person with the problem is important. They cannot get the right help if they are in the wrong program. Knowing the differences between inpatient and outpatient is important. Knowing the pros and cons of each will help you find the right program for the person in need of help.
There are inpatient programs to help those with a methadone dependency. This is a great way to still be able to visit the person, yet getting them out of the environment that could potentially hurt them more or kill them. With inpatient programs they have people watching them 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This program has all kinds of meetings, support groups, etc to help the person with the dependency out.
Then there is an outpatient program to help out. This program the person does not live at the facility. They come for the activities assigned them each day or the days they are required. They have a support group, but they are not with that support group 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you do not need to get them away from the group causing the problem, this might be a good way to go.
Knowing how long someone has been using Methadone and how much they have been taking will probably affect which type of program they go to. Sometimes getting out of the situation can make a huge impact and can really help the person clean up. While others may need the help and support, but not need it 24 hours day surveillance. Finding the right inpatient or outpatient program is important. There are many ways to look for help. There are doctors, psychologist, and other medical professionals who can give their suggestions and even refer someone if that is needed. The right help will help you get the person into the right program, which is of up most importance.
When methadone has been used, finding the right programs is important. When you find a program that will really help them out, you will do anything to get them there and as soon as possible.

How long should I wait after my last dose of methadone to start suboxone?
I have went down from 85mg of methadone to 17mg of methadone at a rate of 4mg per day. It has been 24 hours since my last dose of 17mg and Im already feeling the w d setting in. I know they say to wait 3 days once you are down to 30mg of methadone but if I have tapered down to 17mg would I still have to wait a full 3 days? Please only answer if you have experience with suboxone. Because I have experienced precipitated W D in th past and never want to feel that again. Thank You.
I am about to quit methadone cold turkey due to personal reasons. I am looking for some insight?
as to what to expect with withdrawl symptoms and some helpful encouragement.
Should I stop my methadone treatment?
Here is the thing, I am an ex drug addict, I was a pretty bad user, started pills when I was 18 from a chronic pain condition called endometrosis but I have been sober or clean from heroin and pills for 2 years about....I got on methadone treatment about 2 years ago. I am living with my friend who is into natural medicine and is against methadone. I know that methadone causes some stuff like i heard it depletes the calcium in the bones over time, and it's REALLY hard to get off..I know I tried before. But I don't want to be on it for the rest of my life. I am 27 and I'm on 105mg a day. My roommate says I should get off because 1. it prevents me from going living anywhere that doesn't have a methadone clinic nearby.2. I have to go almost everyday to the clinic.. I'm on phase 2 which means I can have 3 take outs a week, and I will be getting my phase 3 soon. 3. He's worried about the calcium thing.4. Also he thinks I will die from a liver thing or slow breathing in my sleep. Those are the main things he is worried about, but the things is..I have been on it for about 2 years and I have not had a dirty UA since getting on the methadone. It's has been helping me..Also it really is hard to get off. I have heard of this treatment called. Ibogain? It supposedly helps people get off opiates, and it addresses the withdrawal that would come with stopping it. I know I don't want to be on it forever but....it's helping me right now....what do you think? Thank you.

How will i feel when i start getting farther down on my methadone detox?
i am sad to say i have been on it for 20 years..it saved my life.i never allowed myself to go higher then 80mgs.. there are people on 600mgs...i am scared to get off..i don't wanna go back to the life style i had before meth..i couldnt hold a job, was in and out of jail, tried treatment centers, Asked God for help, I tried being hyptozied, with no results.. nothing worked except methadone..ive been working at the same job for 12 years now, i have not been back to jail, I have a car, a home, found God again.. but i am not happy being on meth anymore..i have a love hate thing with it..i'm down to 59mgs...but am starting to get scared..lots of anxiety...are there any addicts out here, who choose to go on methadone and are now trying or have successfully detoxed from the program..would you share your story...
How long does it take to detox from methadone?
How do i get methadone pills?
if i wanna get methadone pills, what should i say to my doc to convince him to give them to me
Am I going to withdrawal from methadone if i have only taken it for 7 days?
I have been using heroin off and on for 2 years but recently i have been using regularly for about the last 4 months. I tried to quit cold turkey from heroin a couple weeks ago but with my mind state at that time i could not get through it. 7 days ago I started a 21 day methadone treatment but the more i have researched I have found that methadone is almost as bad. I do not want to be on anything or just substitute heroin for methadone. I told the doctor that i wanted to stop and to detox me off. I started at 60 mg and every 2 days went down 5 mg. So today I was supposed to be taking 45 mg of methadone. After talking with the doctor I decided to rapidly detox by taking 20 mg today instead of 45mg and i am taking 10 mg tomorrow then i will be off. My question is am I going to have as bad of withdrawals as heroin or will i even withdraw at all because It has been 7 days so the heroin is out of my system and I have only taken 7 days of methadone so I don't think I can become dependent that fast on methadone. If someone could answer my question that would be great and if I am in for a horrible withdrawal like from heroin does anyone have any tips?I am sorry if you got the wrong impression from what I said. I know methadone helps a lot of people to stay clean and to be able to go to work and live without using or hurting. In that scence i have nothing against methadone. As far as what I am trying to accomplish is to not be on any substance what so ever. Methadone though may help a lot of people is not good for your health and there are many restrictions that go along with it. Also the longer one is on methadone the more dependant one gets and will be harder to get off in the long run. I have been told by all the people in the clinic as well as the doctor that no matter what i am going to withdrawal either at the end or if i stop now. I would rather get it over with now before my semester of school starts and get on with my life.

The Transition to Suboxone from Methadone?
Just looking for a little quick advice about my switch from Methadone to Suboxone from anyone that has been through the same thing or any experience with it. Have been on methadone for the past year at 30mg then weened down to 5mg and took my last dose last monday. The earliest I could get in to see the suboxone doctor was wednesday, tomorrow. So i had to wait about 8 days. I have been using opanas this week to get by and i got a suboxone saturday to use. I know I have to be in withdrawals at my appointment but i got an Opana 40 this morning and just finished it off. My appt is at 1 45 so that gives me about 18 hours do you think I will be alright and they will go me my Suboxone? Also I have only used Suboxone a handful of times so not too familiar with it's effects over long time usage? I know it helps with the cravings but do you also have the buzz from other pain killers so you have no desire to use whatsoever? I'm 21 year old male and was using oxys for about 2 years anywhere from 80 a couple hundred miligrams a day. Then i got introduced to opanas about a year ago and was doing 1 2 opana 40mg pills a day so on average 60 80mg. This is the same time i started on methadone also so i was doing methadone and opana daily. Switching from using oxys to methadone and opana together has really up my tolerance which im sure is obvious. Just any insightful info about the transition from methadone to suboxone and what to expect would be much appreciated? also what dose do you think i'll be started on? FYI im currently prescribed 40mg of adderall instant release a day for a little more background info.Keep your judgmental comments and any jack advice to yourself about how i'm a junkie or ruining my life with opiates please. Heard it all before. Thanks in advance for all your help
Help with fathers Methadone Withdrawl...?
My father in law has had a UTI, and has been on methadone for years for his pain. The doctors are slowly reducing his Methadone. He has gone from 50, to 30mg daily this week. He is staying at our house so we can monitor him. When he went to the doctors on Monday his B P was 140 90. Now his blood pressure is 140 100 and 130 99 the last 2 times we checked. He is flushed and getting cold sweats. He is in his 50's. He has been drinking lots of water to help flush out his infection. What can we do to help this process and make him feel better? Thanks
